Vevey area

Myswitzerland describes a few activities in the Vevey area that caught my eye and I'd like to get your feedback if you have done them. Vevey is a 2-night stop at the front-end of my late May 12-day trip.

Activity the First is the "Train des Etoiles" or Train of the Stars which takes you by rail to the nearby Les Pleiades hilltop. It's supposed to have various astronomical activities, but more interesting to me is the downhill bike path that leads back to town. An easy bikeride would be a good way to start the trip and slay the jet lag.

Activity the Second is the Train des Vignes vineyard tour by rail, beginning in Vevey and ending at the Puidoux-Chexbres station. It's a half-day, hop-on-hop-off deal that lets you visit vineyards, do tastings, etc.

Are either of these worthwhile in your estimation?

I have not taken the Train des Vignes, but I do recommend walking the vineyards. I usually take the sbb train to Lutry, follow the footpath to the vineyards and walk the trails back to Vevey. There are trail maps at the train stations and you can walk all or part of it. Breathtaking views, lovely towns.
Les Pleiades is also worthwhile, but I've not taken the bike ride down. If you enjoy biking, there are also rental bike stations around the area. I recommend biking to the Velodrome in Aigle from Vevey. Once you get past Villeneuve, you'll enter the stretch which is paved and and has no cars. Here's some info.
