We understand that US carriers hop on local carriers when travelling Europe. Has anyone found any disadvantage to just getting the monthly Verizon international plan?
Thanks!

I love the Verizon international plan. My phone works exactly as it does at home. I’ve used it on multiple trips to Switzerland in the last 2 years with no problems.
To make a call you just click on a contact from your list just as you do at home. The maps app worked great.
I guess a negative might be the cost but to me it’s well worth it.
The one downside for us is the 250 minute cap on voice calls. My dad spent a month in Glasgow earlier this year. By the time he called me daily to excitedly fill me in on his adventures, he ended up returning home to a pretty nasty overage charge!
Thank you all very much. I think Verizon will be the way to go; just won't make too many calls. Mostly for data/maps/GPS.
Why not use Google Fi, which charges you based on your actual usage?
I really like the international plan especially if you are gone for a month. I will say that I got a credit for my monthly fee and then was charged for the international plan so it wasn’t so much money.
