We are staying in Varenna for a few days. We want to go to the Berner Oberland area and stay in Murren for four nights. What is the quickest way to get to Murren? We need to take the most direct route. I wish we had more time but not this trip.

The DB link at How to Look Up Train Schedules and Routes Online now does cover all those connections. The first connection point is usually at Milano Centrale station, with total travel time 7 hours. You'll probably want to depart Varenna at either 8:35 or 10:35.

There are numerous departures to choose from on that route, and one of the easiest will be a departure from Varenna at 08:37, arriving Mürren at 15.28 (time 6H:51M, 5 changes). The shortest trip is a departure from Varenna at 05:37, but that's a dreadful hour to be travelling unless it's absolutely necessary. Many of the other trips are considerably longer and with more changes, so the 08:37 is the best compromise.
Five changes may sound intimidating, but they're all relatively easy. When you buy tickets, be sure to specify "Mürren BLM" as the route, as there are two choices once you arrive in Lauterbrunnen. If you need more specific directions, post another note and I'll provide more details.
