We will have swiss passes and want to know if will have to purchase a separate ticket from Chiasso to Como?

Yes you will. But then, if you are using flex passes, and that is your only trip of the day, why would you waste an expensive pass day on such a cheap trip.

We have 15 day consequtive passes. So you are saying we buy an extra ticket before we leave Lugano to go to Como for the day?

Kinsey, yes you need to buy an extra ticket. But if you already have a Swiss pass, you only need to buy a ticket from the last Swiss Railway station (Chiasso) to Como. You can buy this before you get on the train in Lugano.
