UCI Cycling event in Zurich - Road Restrictions

Hello All,
We will be in Zurich for 4 nights from Sep 24th to 28th, just received email from hotel informing about the UCI event happening from Sep 21st to 29th in Zurich. We were not aware about this event and the road restrictions prior to booking the hotel. Based on the UCI website the race route shows the eastern part of old town with restrictions on Limmatquai from 6 am to 7 pm. Our hotel is near Grossmunster. Does anyone has more info on this and accessibility on the west side by foot. I have messaged the hotel but have not heard back.

Appreciate it.

Hi there!

I am headed to Zürich for this very event (as a fan, not as a competitor) and the basic thing to know is that foot traffic should be easy. There will be designated crossing zones through the courses but as the riders will have intervals (whether it's a time trail or a road race) it shouldn't be too difficult to get around - the crossings may not be in the most convenient locations but they shouldn't put you too far out of your way.

I hope this helps!

R.D. Riet, thank you appreciate it. Have you booked any ticket for a fan experience ? Enjoy the event.

Haven't booked a fan experience - we're just gonna wing it, moving from section to section. This strategy worked well for the 2015 UCI Worlds in Richmond, VA, so why mess with a good thing? The scene should be fun, regardless.

@R.D. Riet - I was in Richmond in 2015 and going to Zurich for this event too!

No tickets needed for the event. There are VIP options and fan zones that require a ticket but most of the course is open to the general public.

I’ll be watching the women’s race on Saturday and looking out for a good spot to catch the main event on Sunday. I’m thinking one of the climbs shortly after the finish line
