Travelling from Germany to Geneva in September

Hi!

I am going to be driving from Fussen to Geneva in late September and have 2 days to fill in on my itinerary. I know it isn't a ton of time, but I figure I could get a little feel for a second Swiss town instead of spending the whole trip in Geneva. I was looking at Bern, Lucern, or Lausanne but am completely open to suggestions.

I have searched through some other threads here and people seem to really like Lucern so I am leaning towards that currently. However, since I am going in fall I didn't know if there were any seasonal festivals or exciting things that are fun to do in other areas.

Best,
Jessica

Do you have two nights to stay, with a full day in between, or only one night? Luzern is a lovely town with plenty to do, and Lausanne is closer to Geneve, but if you want the most high-mountain "wow" during your brief stay, the Berner Oberland area would be Rick's first choice, staying in Lauterbrunnen, Muerren, or Gimmelwald.

Thank you Laura! I will start looking into that. Having never been to Switzerland before there is too much too see so it's nice to have a direction to go in at least.

We did this drive a few years ago but with a few more days in between. Our two stops were in Lucerne and the Berner Oberland. I'd recommend either for a two night stay - both will leave you wanting more.

I'm not sure what your plans are for Geneva. If you are planning to spend a few nights there, you might consider spending them in Lausanne instead. I think it is a prettier city with more to see and do and it is only a 30-45 minute train ride from Geneva.
