Traveling Zermatt to Geneva Airport, how early to leave?

In September I will be going from Zermatt to the Geneva Airport to catch a 2PM Easy Jet flight to Vienna. What time will I need to get to the airport by in order to clear Passport Control and Security in time? Appears the trains leave quite often and take about 4 hours. Any tips or thoughts, are there faster train routes? Thanks

Read the Easyjet site to see how far in advance you need to be at the airport. You must be at the gate at the time they say, or they will leave you behind.
When they say "one piece of hand luggage", they mean it.

  • You will not not have to go through passport control, because Austria is also in the Schengen Area. Just security
  • Make sure you have printed out your boarding pass before you arrive at the airport. You can do this before you leave home.
  • Will you have luggage to put in the hold? If yes, you need to go via the drop-off point. Otherwise straight to security and then to the gate.

I assume you are looking up train times on the SBB website ( https://www.sbb.ch/en/ ). That will always show you the quickest route. All rail lines in Switzerland have at least one train per hour. I just looked up Zermatt to Genève-Aéroport, 2 trains per hour, one taking 3h44, the other 4h02.

I usually allow two hours at the airport before I fly, a bit more if it's later in the week.
