Traveling with kids

Hello everyone. Hopefully I can get some quick understanding of what could be best. My family and I, with 2 kids age 5 and 8 are planning to travel to Zurich, Switzerland on July 29 for 6 days. While there, we were hoping to visit the Alps or get as close as possible. Wondering what would be best way to travel and if by train which train to exactly take.

We are still trying to get a hotel. We have search many just trying to get one as central as possible to Zurich to be close to transportation.

Anyone has any suggestions? Or should we skip the Alps?

After Zurich we are flying to Prague and then Vienna so we have a lot of planning to do.

Don't stay in Zurich, go stay IN the mountains for 6 days and then return to Zurich for your flight to Prague. It will be a completely different experience, especially for your kids, to be in the mountains instead of transporting every day back and forth.

Look into places like Wengen or Zermatt to stay in a car free village.
