I will be traveling to Switzerland in early JULY for 4 days can someone give me ideas on what to do, see and where in Switzerland to stay with easy access. Perhaps daily trip suggestions ? Help is very much appreciated.
You've asked a very broad question. There are NUMEROUS possibilities, and it's difficult to provide suggestions without having some idea on what types of things you're most interested in. For example, what prompted your desire to visit Switzerland?
The Berner Oberland region is a big favourite with many here, and you could easily spend four days there. With such a short time, I'd suggest a short visit to one city (Lucerne?) and a short visit to the Lauterbrunnen Valley. You could also stay in Lucerne the entire time and take a day trip to the Berner Oberland.
Ken is right. Lucerne is great!
Trains are plentiful.
I agree with the previous posters. To give you some useful feedback, it would be good to know what things you are interested in, and easy access to what? Easy access to another specific area, by plane or public transportation? I also agree that Lucerne is very beautiful and could offer you a lot for the time you have.
Luzern and Mt Tiltus were features on the Amazing Race last night!
@Michael,
The Amazing Race show last week was also interesting as they featured Civita di Bagnoregio and Orvieto. It will be interesting to see where they head next week.
You can start with Rick's descriptions of various destinations, plus video links, at http://www.ricksteves.com/europe/switzerland. Certainly, the Berner Oberland is his first choice for high-mountain scenery, lifts, and hikes.
