traveling to Lauterbrunnen then where?

My girlfriend and I are traveling to Switzerland in march and we are staying in Lauterbrunnen for one night, I was trying to plan the rest of our stay in the country, we plan on being there for 3 nights..

I was looking at doing the Jungfraujoch day trip from Lauterbrunnen but I was wondering were to stay that night? can you bring bags with you on that train? Maybe the Glacier Express or something like that to get us back towards Zurich?
So much to see in so little time!

I would love to hear some opinions and ideas as to how we can make the most of our time there..

Thank you all!

You can easily stay in Lauterbrunnen and leave your bags at the hotel while traveling to Jungfrau...but why would you??? That will eat up your entire day. Just stay in the valley or maybe travel up to Murren or Wengen. The whole area is spectacular, no need to waste the day in a train to the Jungfrau which is entirely overrated and overrun with tourists.

GE I’m sure is scenic, but unless you want to just see the sights of Switzerland through a train window then I would recommend you actually be out and about in the beautiful country. Don’t get stuck in a train seat.

Pick a place like Lauterbrunnen or maybe Lucerne and base yourself there.

If you only have that short time, I would consider spending them all in Lauterbrunnen. There is much to do in this beautiful area and I have yet to hear anyone say, “I wish I had spent less time here,”

We were in Lauterbrunnen for three nights last summer. Spectacular area! I wouldn't book the Jungfrau trip until you see what the weather is like. There are TVs showing the mountain peaks in every hotel so you can see if it is worth it to make the trip up or if the peak is in the clouds so visibility is zero. We hiked one day, went to Wengen one day, and to Murren the other. Lots to do in case weather prevents the Jungfrau trip. Have fun!

You SHOULD be excited. Lauterbrunnen is easily THE most beautiful place I’ve ever seen.

We absolutely loved the trip to Jungfrau and would do it again in a second. As noted, make sure it is a clear day, but the view is magnificent. That's the reason it's packed with tourists. Plus the ride up is really nice. It takes about an hour and a half from Lauterbrunnen Hbf to the top. Not sure where the other poster got his "all day" from. There are a lot of videos on Youtube you can decide for yourself.

We stayed at the Hotel Silberhorn in Lauterbrunnen and were very pleased.

Glacier Express won't take you to Zurich. You can ride the Golden Pass from Interlakken Ost to Luzern. But the regular trains are just as good for the trip to Zurich.

Forgive me for saying so, but your post appears to be written by somebody who has misconceptions about Switzerland.

Lauterbrunnen for one night, I was trying to plan the rest of our stay in the country, we plan on being there for 3 nights..

Do not stay in Lauterbrunnen for 1 night. If you only have 3 nights, stay in the same place for all 3 nights, otherwise you are wasting time going back and forth across the country. And in the mountains weather changes from day to day. One day it is spectacular at the summit, the next day the summit is in cloud and you see nothing (but lower down it is OK). Decide the day before based on the weather forecast when you go up to the summit. This means you need 2-3 day's flexibility.

How are you arriving in and leaving Switzerland? Air, train, car other? And which airport or from which location?
If you go up Jungfrau on your day of departure, that leaves little time to travel somewhere else as well.

Maybe the Glacier Express or something like that to get us back towards Zurich?

The Glacier Express is not the only train in Switzerland. And it doesn't go anywhere near Lauterbrunnen or Zürich.
Switzerland has 1838 stations, each rail line and station has at least one train per hour in each direction, often 2 per hour. That is a lot of trains, and some trains can have 1000 seats.
The Glacier Express is just one extra tourist train on top of the hourly trains on one route.

So. you can safely assume you can get anywhere to anywhere else in Swizerland by train at any time of day.

Finally, why Zürich? It is not a major tourist attraction. You go to Switzerland to see mountains, not big cities.
