Traveling from Italy to Switzerland

I purchased a Swiss Rail Pass for our travel through Switzerland, but was going to purchase tickets as we go for travel through other countries.

I will be traveling from Roma Termini to Montreux, Switzerland. How do I book this ticket and use my Swiss pass? Do I book from Roma Termini to Brig and they make a reservation from Brig to Montreux? Do I need a reservation for Brig to Montreux?

Thanks,
Michelle

If you look at the map that comes with the Swiss Pass (here: https://www.sbb.ch/content/dam/sbb/de/infotexte/uebersichtskarte-sts.pdf ), the first Swiss station on that route is Domodossola , which is before Brig. The rail line is in red from there - pass valid.
Therefore you only need to buy a ticket from Roma to Domodossola. You can do this at the Italian Railways site: http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en
If you already have your pass, you can stay seated on the train. When the Swiss ticket inspector comes round just show them your pass.

You do not need reservations for trains in Switzerland. With a pass you just get on any train (or bus or boat) and show your pass when requested. If it is a flexi-pass, don't forget to fill in the dates.
