Travel to Bern, Switzerland

I live in Austin, Texas U.S.A.. I am trying to find a flight from Austin, Texas U.S.A. to Bern Switzerland. I have searched different days of the week, different times of seasons during a year. I cann't find any flights from Austin to Bern. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Bern has a tiny airport, with flights only to a few destinations. Fly to Zürich instead. There are frequent direct trains from Zürich airport to Bern that take you to Bern in a bit more than an hour.

As Badger stated, there are no flights from te USA to Bern. Fly to Zurich, catch a train from the airport train station--which is practically next to international arrivals--and in little over an hour and 15 minutes you'll be in Bern. No need to even change trains.

If you've never taken a European train, don't compare them to Amtrack. European trains are efficient and there will be numerous choices every hour for a train to Bern. The people at the airport train station ticket office speak English.

trying to find transatlantic flights to Bern is like trying to find transatlantic flights to Draughon–Miller Central Texas Regional Airport in Temple or Killeen-Ft Hood Regional Airport in Texas. It can't be done. That's why you're not finding them...

To see for yourself, go to https://www.sbb.ch/en

Put in Zurich Flughafen as the start point and Bern as the end point and a time of day which will be 1 hour after your scheduled arrival. Use the same day of the week you are arriving, but near to now to make sure you don't go beyond the scheduling expiration. You'll see direct trains at 8 past the hour and 45 past the hour. Other connections are later trains that actually "catch" those direct trains at Zurich main station. Cost is 56 CHF anytime fare.

Zurich Flughafen is in the building across the street from the airport in the basement. Just follow the train icons in the airport after you get through passport control and get your luggage. There is a skybridge or just use the cross walk, first level down is the ticket office (and ticket machines) and the platforms are down an escalator from there, one to Tracks 1 & 2, and the other to Tracks 3 & 4. Long distance trains normally use Tracks 3 & 4.

Basel airport is slightly closer, but you do need to take a bus to Basel train station first.
Geneva airport is a third option, a bit further than the other two, but with a train station right in the airport and direct trains to Bern (2 hours).

Coming from Austin, Zurich is the logical choice. I saw as low as $555 r/t on United/Swiss with one stop.
