I am traveling there the first week of January and I was curious if there was local travel to the towns. The closest hotel rooms that are reasonable or 1012 miles away. Will I be able to find transportation to and from there at night? Thank you in advance for your comments!

You might want to edit 1012 miles away. Sounds like quite a stretch!
Assuming you mean 1 1/2 miles, are you looking at Taesch? There are dedicated shuttle trains every 20 minutes. Taesch is as close as you can get via car, and you must park in the garage and switch to the train anyway.
Otherwise, tell us the name of the town you are looking at.
PS, I'll see you on the way out as I will be there the 2nd week in January.
PPS. After 11:30 pm, the train from Zermatt to Taesch runs every hour through the night. Stay late and party on.
