Travel on May Day (Labor day)

Hi,

Do the trains run from Basel to Colmar on May Day which is a national holiday in Switzerland, Germany, and France? I can only find the schedule for May 2nd. Do the local buses in Colmar close also? We really want to visit because my husband has a day off but it seems hard to find a fun city to visit with businesses closed for the day.
Is it still worth it to visit? If so is the train station in the city center of Colmar or do we have to walk a bit to town.
Would the city of Freiburg be a better place with stores open? What do the locals do on Labor Day?

Or maybe we should just stay put on a rainy day....

It's a bit late to ask, It is already 1st May :-)
The normal rule for holidays is the Sunday timetable applies. Trains run 365 days of the year.
Yes, Colmar is worth the visit. the station is slightly out of the city centre (15-20 minute walk). Not sure about the buses, the answer would be "whatever they do on Sunday".

1st May is a holiday in France, and in Germany (nothing open in Freiburg im Breisgau), and in some cantons in Switzerland, including Basel. And a cloudy day with rain is forecast, unlike Sunday which was lovely.

My suggestion would be Laufen. It is a small town which has a popular Mayday market. Short trip from Basel with 3 trains per hour (2 x S-Bahn, 1xIC). It is usually crowded on Mayday. It is where I am going.
Option 2 is Rheinfelden. It is in Kanton Aargau, which does not have 1st May as a holiday, so it will be open.
Both places get lots of visitors from Basel on Mayday.
