Hi there everyone!
What are your recommendations for travel and flight insurance? I see the Travel Guard by AIG. I used to get yearly coverage from Travelex, but now it is per trip only. Would so appreciate your input on this subject. Thank you for your kind attention.
If you are on original Medicare, Medicare does not cover foreign medical expenses. If you have Medicare Supplemental or Advantage, check your foreign medical coverage. Same if you are on other insurance plans, check foreign coverage.
Medical and medical evacuation are the more important coverages in my opinion. The other losses are more of an annoyance and inconvenience compared to suffering a major medical event and needing evacualtion back to the States on a medical charter. That said, medical care in Europe is more affordable than the USA. See: https://www.ricksteves.com/travel-tips/health/medical-care-in-europe
I use Travl Guard's Silver Plan.
What kind of travel insurance? There's trip cancellation, trip interruption, baggage loss, out of country medical, medical evacuation, and any number of combinations of these. Cost will also depend on age, cost of the trip, length of the trip, and current health status. Best to go to a site where you can compare several different policies at once, like insuremytrip.com
Thank you. This website looks great. You spoke wisely as to narrowing down to which kind. Thank you so much
