travel from Lake Como to Switzerland

I am still planning a trip to Italy in Sept/Oct. I would like to get some input from anyone who has travelled from Lake Como to Switzerland for a few days before going to Venice. What are some destinations that would be worth seeing not too far into the country?

Bellinzona with its three castles and Locarno on Lake Maggiore.

Depends on where on lake Como you are. Where are you planning to stay?

At Bellagio you are at the point where the lake splits in two, that means that in most directions you have water. Going down to Como town only to go back up to Switzerland is not very time efficient.

But you can take a ferry across to Menaggio, and from there a bus to Lugano. This bus passes by Gandria which is certainly worth a stop.
Time for the bus is here: https://www.asfautolinee.it/orari_pdf/invernale/C12.pdf

Or you can take a ferry over to Varenna, and do a Varenna - Tirano - st. Moritz - Chiavenna - Varenna loop. Timings for that you can find on the SBB website.
