We have a half day prior to tour start in Luzern next month and we would like to do the boat/cog-wheel train to Mount Rigi. Is there a SBB pass that might cut our cost down or do we have to go full fare? I looked for saver day pass and there were none available for our date.

In your case just buy a ticket. You can buy a through ticket covering boat and train at the ticket office in Luzern. Just tell them what route you want to take and they will give you the right ticket.
