Travel by Train From Murren to Beaune France

Looking for advice from the experts here. I am traveling from Murren to Beaune, France in a few weeks. I have the Berner Oberland Pass and the Swiss 1/2 Fare Card. I am asking for advice on how to best accomplish this journey.

My guess is I can just use my B-O Pass to get from Murren to Bern via Lauterbrunnen and Interlaken Ost. Then from Bern to Basel, I could buy a ticket and use my Swiss 1/2 Fare Card (SBB App). Even with the 1/2 Fare Card, looks like to buy that ticket now would cost CHF 21.00. A Supersaver Ticket is CHF 10.60. Should we wait until the day of travel to buy that ticket?

Finally, looks like I would use the SNCF App to travel from Basel to Beaune at a cost of about 60 Euros for a ticket. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. I will eventually go from Beaune to Paris (CDG). That cost looks to be about 90 Euros. Thought I could buy a senior discount card for travel through France for 49 Euros but doesn't look like its worth it.

I have had other questions answered through this forum and it has been invaluable so far!! Thank you in advance for any advice you can provide.

You can also just book Bern - Beaune with SBB. Indicate you have the HFC. The system will book the French part for you, and will add a discounted connecting ticket. It may well be the best option.
(International tickets do not have VAT in Switzerland, so you save a bit there...)

Thanks so much Wengen. I worked through the SBB App and was able to see how to book to Dijon. For some reason the SBB App does not recognize Beaune, I may still be doing something wrong. I guess I can just get a ticket to Beaune when I get to Dijon. Thank you once again, you haver been VERY helpful !!

You need to do it on the website, not in the App. The website does recognize Beaune. I just tried...

Not all routes go via Basel.
You can also go via Neuchâtel and Frasne in about 6 hours (departure 12:58), which is just as fast as the best Basel routes, and it should be cheaper.

SBB says going through Neuchatel and Frasne is 1 1/2 hours longer, and does not even want to offer it for sale as it says "we found an alternative" and goes back to the Basel route.

There used to be a direct TGV Bern - Neuchatel - Dijon. This was discontinued because the route via Basel was faster, and Swiss will choose a faster route with transfers over a slower route without transfers.

So there is now still a regional train that runs from Neuchatel to Frasne, and connects to Dijon there. But it really only useful for people from the Neuchatel area. The morning one is to early if you are starting out from Mürren anyway.

Just go via Basel.
