Travel between Dublin, Ireland and Grindelwald

would appreciate help on planning to do this in one day. Best I can figure is Ryan Air to Basel and Swiss rail to Interlaken, then on to Grindelwald somehow.

den,

That should be a fairly straight forward trip. As you've found, the first part will be a flight from Dublin to Basel-Mulhouse and RyanAir is probably the best option.

From the airport, take a Bus to the Basel SBB station. Buy tickets to your final destination (Grindelwald) and then take the train to Interlaken Ost (there are two stations at Interlaken), where you'll transfer to the local Berner Oberland Bahn. As I recall, that train splits at the mid point terminal of Zweilütschinen, so be sure to board the corrrect half of the train (the destination should be shown on a small display on each car). From Zweilütschinen the train will take you directly to Grindelwald.

Basel airport counts as an SBB station. There is an SBB ticket machines at the bus stop, and you can buy direct tickets from the airport to any station in Switzerland, including the bus to the station. No need to buy a separate bus ticket.

Super, thanks for the help !
Do you know if the SBB ticket machine at Basel airport takes a debit or credit card?

A card with PIN is the best bet to work in a Swiss ticket machine.

All the connections to Grindelwald are shown on SBB.ch or DB train shedules.
