My husband and I are traveling to Switzerland in early September for 16 days and would like to incorporate a two night stay in Kandersteg on route from Montreux to Murren in order to enjoy hiking around the lake. We’d like to ride the Golden Pass train. What would you recommend in terms of transportation to Kandersteg from
Montreux and then on to Murren? Does it make sense to ride the Golden Pass train to Interlaken and then back track to the lake? How much travel time would that add? Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Mid-price and upscale hotel recommendations in Kandersteg are also appreciated. Thanks.
You get the train to Kandersteg from Spiez, before you get to Interlaken. Easy.
Kandersteg is 30 minutes from Spiez, and the trains go every hour. Continuing on to Interlaken Ost, return to Spiez and then to Interlaken by frequent trains and on to Lauterbrunnen and Muerren by trains every 30 minutes.
