What would be the most scenic train route to take. Would you suggest staying in Grindelwald or Berner or Oberland? Are the towns all within waking distance from the train stops?
It's my first time in Switzerland and only have 6 days. Flying in and out of Zurich. Would welcome any suggestions.
there are no towns called Berner or Oberland. The Berner Oberland (i.e., the land above Bern) is a region, of which Grindelwald is one of the towns in that region.
This site may be helpful to get an idea of how the villages are situated:

The trains and cable cars generally get you to the center of town, or a short walk away. Your lodgings could be quite a walk uphill.
Lauterbrunnen is more central than Grindelwald. From Lauterbrunnen you can take a train up to Wengen, or a cable car and train to Murren.
The most scenic train route is the Luzern-Interlaken express, a direct train through Brünig pass. At Interlaken Ost, you take a local train to Grindelwald.
