Train travel in Switzerland

Is it worth getting the Swiss Travel pass if we’re only going to take one train trip per day? We need to get from Zurich to Interlaken and will be there for three nights. We intend to do day trips to the surrounding areas while in Interlaken, likely by train or bus. We will then head to Lucerne for one night and then back to Zurich to stay the night before our flight. There is a six-day pass, but we won’t need all of the days (and it’s more expensive than we were expecting). Would it be cheaper if we got the three-day pass and then just paid for the individual trips for the remaining two days (or would it be a wash)? I’d appreciate any tips or suggestions. Thank you!

You are probably better off financially with a Swiss Half Fare Card and possibly would benefit from the Jungfrau Pass or the Berner Oberland Regional Pass. There is no way to be certain of the exact right combination without doing your own analysis based on what you plan to do. However, if you are staying in Interlaken and all of your travel is between Interlaken, Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, Wengen and Muerren, the Jungfrau Pass plus a Half Fare Card would be my off-the-cuff recommendation. See https://www.jungfrau.ch/en-gb/jungfrau-travel-pass/#2068 and https://www.sbb.ch/en/tickets-offers/tickets/guests-abroad/swiss-half-fare-card.html.

Thank you very much! We would travel by train from Zurich to Interlaken and then day trips to the places you mentioned followed by a train trip to Lucerne and from there back to Zurich.
