Train travel in Switzerland

Traveling from Basel to Lauterbrunner with one transfer in Interlaken. The super saver day ticket says 6 minutes to transfer but was hoping to spend a little time in Interlaken before going on to Lauterbrunner. What is the best way to buy a ticket that allows you to hop on and off in Interlaken?

If buy a normal ticket (not a supsersaver ticket) it is good for any train on the route you buy it for, and that for a whole day till 5:00 the next day. So with a normal ticket you can indeed spend some time in Interlaken.

But there isn't really a lot to see in Interlaken. Just continue to Lauterbrunnen would be my advise.

The saver day PASS is not train specific. It’s good for the whole day on any covered routes. You can hop off in Interlaken and take any train to Lauterbrunnen.

But to get a decent price, you must buy (nonrefundable) well in advance for your specific travel day. Since a point-to-point ticket is 71.80 CHF 2nd class, you really need to get a SDP for less than 70 CHF to make it worth your while.
