My husband and I have a wedding to attend in Rome October 2, 2015 and are flying in and out of Milan with the intention of doing all of our traveling by train and spending almost a week in Switzerland. Our tentative plan is to leave Malpensa Airport (Sunday, Sept. 20) for Interlaken, spending two nights there, traveling to Zermatt, spending two nights there and traveling to Chur for a night. We also plan to take advantage of both the Bernina and Glacier Express trains. We're thinking that on that on Friday, Sept. 26 we'd travel to Cinque Terre for three days before heading to Rome. Does the Swiss part of the itinerary sound feasible for the time allotted? Thanks for any insight!
Why don't you fly into Zürich and out of Rome? Saves doubling back. Zürich to Interlaken (or somewhere further into the Alps) is a lot easier than Milan to Interlaken
Otherwise sounds OK. Chur to Cinque Terre on Friday 26th Sep is a long haul, but do-able.
Well, the tickets are a done deal - we had substantial vouchers on a specific airline, so in and out of Milan was the best we could do! Other than that, you think the itinerary is good. I DON'T want to be racing around, so should I add a day or are we okay? Thanks again for your input - it's all very helpful!
