Train to Bus transfer at Zurich Hb?

Hi!
I am planning to travel to Munich from Lucerme with my family. We are looking at tickets and the cheapest is to take a train to Zurich Hb and then transfer to a bus at Zurich Hb Carpark Sihlquai. The transfer is only 20 minutes. I have never used a bus for travel before and I am nervous about trying to find the Carpark in Zurich Hb within 20 minutes.
Does anyone have any advice?

Thank you!

Yes. Google maps says it is a 6 min walk on the street, but my DB navigator app says it's 12 min. I'm most unsure if there will be a connecting passage with clearly marked directonal signs or if I will need to navigate streets to the bus station.
I am also from America and have a minimal international data plan so it is more difficult to use Google maps when I arrive. I did however, screen shot the listed street directions.

That's a very interesting way of going. Is there a reason that the bus is more appealing - other than you said cheapest? There is a frequent and somewhat scenic train connecting the two stations and I would suggested that rather than the bus.

Is it that much cheaper than a through train ticket from Munich?

Bus is cheaper when you buy Sparpreis tickets, and runs 5 times a day vs 4 times a day for the EC train. It's also 24 minutes shorter travel time.

For the OP, DB gives 12 minutes and they have some leeway in the that estimate as it will depend where you are on the train, and also, if you were coming from the airport, you might be arriving on the basement level S-Bahn platforms. Assuming you are arriving on the main platforms at ground level, walk along the train to the main plaza where you take a left and exit the station on Museumstrasse. Take another left and walk over the bridge over the Sihl. Cross the street to the right and walk one block across Limmatstrasse and you will see a bunch of buses in the lot. Looks like about a 600 foot walk from the center of the train station. Here is a map showing the location.

The train from Zürich HB goes to Luzern goes twice an hour, at 4 and 35 past each hour and takes either 45 or 50 minutes.

Does the bus do the trip in under half an hour??

The OP is going to Munich. and coming from Luzern on the train.

Oh sorry - you mean a nice train for the short distance in Switzerland and then onto a long distance bus all the way to Munich. I'd have never considered that.....

Hi There,

I've never used it, but one of my work colleagues uses it regularly to travel Zurich from Munich. The main reason he chooses it over the train is the excellent free WiFi service on board.

Yeah, I paid 64 Chf for the train and bus to Munich. Taking trains for both parts of the trip was listed as approximately 150 Chf.

Thank for all the great advice! I feel more relaxed and prepared for this transfer now :)

KnB, about your limited data allotment: There are some phone apps (I use CityMaps2Go Pro, by Ulmon) that allow you to download maps ahead of time when you have Wi-Fi access. The apps use GPS information (not a cell-phone signal) to figure out where you are on the local map. You can search for street addresses and some landmarks (though the landmark data tends to be spotty). The only problems I've had using the maps for walking directions were when I was in an historic district with very narrow streets and rather tall buildings. In those conditions, it seems that it's difficult to hit the GPS satellite, though the map itself is still available.

I paid $4 or $5 for the app, I think, and it is very useful.
