We bought tickets on Trainline from Zurich HB to Basel on a noon ICE train . When we printed the tickets, it does not show the train time on the ticket. Is there something wrong here? Also there were no seat assignments so we are assuming you just get on and grab seats.
I assume the tickets just show the date? That's fine.
In Switz. most train tickets are good for anytime that day.
For example, we bought tix from Zurich to Lauterbrunnen via Luzern. At the train change in Luzern, we got off and explored the city for a few hours, got on the next train. Got off at Interlaken Ost (train change) and shopped at the Coop store across the street from the station, got on the next train to Lauterbrunnen. No problems. (You can't re-use the tix because the conductor will punch a hole in them on the way.)
What Shoe said. The tickets are good on any train that day. You do not have a reservation for a specific train or for seats, unless you make one separately and pay for it. We have found that to be unnecessary in Switzerland; we just board the train we want and find a seat.

Swiss trains don't need reservations, its not the Swiss way. It is a "turn-up-and-go" service. What you actually have is a ticket valid on any train on the date shown on the ticket. You just get whichever train you fancy.
For normal Swiss internal tickets, there is no discount for advance purchase, you could have bought at the station for the same price.
I have a Swiss Travel Pass and will be arriving in Zurich by plane. Want to take the train from the Zurich Airport to Grindelwald. Do I need to do anything or just board the train and show my pass (printed pdf which as emailed to me)?
Thanks
Have your passport as well. Pass should have its validity dates already on it.
@alcoonsmail. If you have a Swiss Pass (whether bought at a station or print-at-home), all you need is that and your passport as ID. You can go anywhere anytime.
As usual, Chris F is the person in the know. If you are using any kind of pass, make sure your passport is very easily accessible. Twice a train conductor requested to see our passport. Once was on a very crowded train from Montreaux to Geneva. You don't want to be fumbling around looking for passports as all the Swiss locals stare at you!
