Hello, Planning a trip to Switzerland in May. Will be flying into Zurich and plan to take a train from the airport to Wilderswil where our hotel is and we will be for 5 nights. We will be making day trips (likley by train) to Lauterbrunnen, Interlaken and vicinity before returning by train to zurich. Which pass/passes do you recommend?
Definitely a Berner Oberland Region Pass https://www.berneroberlandpass.ch/en/pass-and-infos/the-ticket/. You might want to add a Half Fare Card, which gives an additional discount on the BO pass and also 50% off your trip between Zurich and Lucerne where the BO pass kicks in. On this page https://www.berneroberlandpass.ch/verkehrsmittel/ download the map showing the area of validity. Useful in planning your outings.
Become familiar also with https://www.sbb.ch/en the transportation planning and ticket site, partly so you can see how much the various journeys cost without a pass and as a real-time planning tool. Create your account and download the app as well as you can then have all tickets you need and the Half Fare Card on the app on your phone. You can easily download the BO pass to your phone as well, but as of last fall, the BO pass was not in the app.
