Train pass question for switzerland

My wife and I are traveling to switzerland for the first time. We will be arriving June 30, staying 3 days in Gimmelwald, then staying 6 days in Mürren, before heading back to zurich for one night before our departure back to the US. We plan on doing everything in the Lauterbrunnen Valley region., including Grindlewall first, Mandlichen, Lake brienz, Thun, as well as many of the top of the mountain sites above Gimmelwald and Murren. We have been getting differing info. Hopefully, someone with experience can give us some advice. Most info indicates we should get the Jungfrau pass as well as the berner Oberland pass. Others say those two passes plus the Half fare Swiss pass should be purchased. My question is this... Is the half pass card ONLY helping with the trip from Zurich - gimmelwald and Murren back to Zurich airport? Or is the half pass also used in the other places I have noted we will be visiting? I understand the half pass will give a discount on the initial Jungfrau and Oberland pass purchases, however, IF the half pass is only good for the back and forth trip to the airport, it wouldn't seem to be worth it. We don't expect to be traveling to other major citiies , at least at this point. Also, when you are traveling in switzerland, how do you know if the pass that you have pays for the location you are going to? We certainly don't want to be on board and find out we didn't pay for that particular transportation and then get fined. Thank you.

OK, For the Berner Oberland Pass, you save 119 CHF with the Half Fare Card for a 10-day pass.

Download the Map of Validity at this page to see what is covered.

Note that the train from Wengen to Kleine Scheidegg, Grindelwald to Kleine Scheidegg, and Kleine Scheidegg to the Jungfraujoch are only covered at a 25% discount, However, with the Half Fare Card, you get a 50% discount. It also gives you 50% discount from Zurich airport to Luzern and Bern, which are not covered by the BOP. So getting the Half Fare Card will definitely save you some money.
