Train pass help!

Hello! I have been pouring over all the different train pass options and am more unsure of what to do than when I started! I THINK I should get either the Half Rate Pass or the Bernese Oberland Pass but wanted your advice! Our schedule is pretty set and so I could book most of my train tickets now if need be. Details of our trip below.

2 adults
1 child (7 years old)

July 17 - Montreux to Wegnen
Either 2nd class or Prestige Class for Golden Pass Express portion

July 18-19 - excursions around Wengen - strongly considering Jungfraujoch

July 20 - Wengen to Zurich
2nd class for Golden Pass Express portion

July 21 - Zurich to Paris

What say you?!

It somewhat depends on how much you plan to do in terms of riding cable cars, trains, boats, etc. The only way to know your answer for sure is to list out each of the "trips" you plan to do, add them up and then compare validity/pricing. SBB defaults to half fare card pricing, so take that into account.

Your options are
1. Half Fare Card only
2. Half Fare Card + Berner Oberland Pass
3. Half Fare Card + Jungfrau Pass
4. Berner Oberland Pass only
4. Jungfrau Pass only

If you want an actual educated suggestion, you'll need to respond here with the list of your plans and then we can try to suggest from that.

Personally I would drop Zurich and travel Wengen - Paris directly. You do not need to pass via Zurich at all for that. Spend a night more in Wengen. But if you do, from Wengen to Zurich you will not be on the Golden Pass Express. That one goes from Montreux to Interlaken, is thus not on the route.

Best is probably to get the Half Fare Card, with comes with the Family Card, so your kid goes for free.

Note that you do not need to book train tickets in advance. This is mass transit. Also you do not need to buy any passes in advance.
