Train from Zurich to Venice

Does anyone know how to find a seat map for:
Trenitalia
Train: EuroCity 301
Standard/First class
Coach: 29
Someone else in our group booked the tickets and said the system assigned our seats. All 6 of us are in the same coach, but we’re not sure if spouses are sitting together.

You might check on seat 61. Also, look at doing a dummy booking on the same train at www.trenitalia.com and click on "select seats".

If they booked at SBB, they just assign you seats with no choice.

The train is 22 cars long (2 x 11 car sets) of Swiss Railways RaBE501 type train cars (or Giruno trains), and reverses at Milan,

[information from https://www.vagonweb.cz/razeni/vlak.php?zeme=SBB&kategorie=EC&cislo=301&nazev=&rok=2026 ]

See here for the seating plan (scroll down to 'Switzerland', then 'International Trains' then 'Euro City trains to Italy'-Giruno- https://www.seat61.com/european-train-seat-maps.htm#Switzerland

Car 29 is 3rd from rear of the rear set of the train, 2 cars to the rear of the restaurant car- on these plans it is Coach 9

One more question please…the seat map shows two areas with a luggage icon. Do you know if that is where the luggage for everyone in that car would be stored? Some of the group thinks we need to buy locks for our luggage, but I’m not sure it’s necessary if our luggage will be right there with us.

Yes, that is the large luggage storage area for that carriage. People have various levels of paranoia about luggage theft. I am in the non-paranoid category. But whichever people in your group will rest easier, then you can tell them to bring locks.

just be positive that they can release their luggage prison when they need to extract the bag from the pile of other bags on top and in front,.

I am in the non-paranoia camp - decades of trains and nary a problem

Thanks everyone! Our seats look like they’re right beside the luggage area, so they can take a lock if they want and make a decision when we get on the train. I think the group has been spending too much time “researching” things like this 😊

Obviously there are no concerns in CH, but having locks once in Italy might not be the worst idea
