Train from Venice to Täsch

I am trying to plan an Italy & Switzerland trip for 2027 and looking into trains between Venice and Täsch is leaving me concerned. Hoping someone with experience can chime in if this type of route is do-able with such tight transfers and luggage. This may not be the exact schedule, but just so I have an idea if taking the train between locations is even a great option or not

14:25 Arona

5 minutes interchange

3 Autobus Trenord Bus #2426A

The schedule of 2027 is not known yet. So what are you showing us? What is your travel date?

Normally there are direct trains between Milano and Visp, and even a direct train between Venice and Brig. So what you found is not the typical schedule.

Regarding transfers: Any transfer over 10 minutes is indeed an outrage.

So I just put in a date 2 months out from today to see what the schedules and fares are like. I don't have exact travel dates yet, I'm more or less seeing if Switzerland is a good fit after Italy based on transportation (time, cost and interchanges).
So, transfers that are 10 min or less are do-able? The site gave me an alert of "Short interchange: Only choose if you're confident you'll have time to change"

SBB only gives changes that are doable. Are you using SBB.ch/en? That's the official website for Swiss transport.

There are track works going on around Milan this summer so you may be getting info that's not applicable to you. The typical route will be around 7.5 hours with 1 change - Venice > Brig & Brig > Zermatt. Don't stay in Tasch. If you're going, stay in Zermatt.

I was on RailEurope. I will check out SBB, thank you!
Is there a reason to not stay in Tasch and to stay in Zermatt? I read that staying in Tasch was cheaper, but I'm open to options since I'm still planning

All I can say about staying in Taesch is that you will be commuting every day to/from Zermatt, and missing the magic of staying in Zermatt. It is more expensive for good reasons. Location, location, location.
You will spend about 18 CHF per day commuting every day, so add that into the savings of staying in Taesch.

Noted - I will definitely take that into consideration, thank you! I have yet to actually look into places to stay so everything is open at this point! My initial plan was to stay in Zermatt until I saw how close Tasch was, but Zermatt really does look amazing if I can find a spot I can work into the budget :)

Look at the SBB schedule for early December. Currently, the EC train from Venice leaves after 4 in the afternoon, so you would not get to Zermatt until just before midnight. So leaving earlier, you will have to change trains at Milano Centrale to Brig. By December, all the maintenance closures will be completed.
