I would love recommendations for how to get from Geneva to Interlaken and back on the train. Most scenic option and alternate options. Thanks!
Download the SBB Mobile app. It is the Swiss train system. Please don’t end in Interlaken. Continue on UP into the mountains to Lauterbrunnen and even higher up to Wengen (one of the most gorgeous train rides, sit on the right on the way up) or Murren. It would be a shame to get so close to those gorgeous areas but never see them. Interlaken is nothing in comparison.
You can go the quickest way via Bern in 2 hr 55 min or the Golden Pass Express scenic train via Montreux in 4 hr 40 min. Personally I’d just go the quickest route and use the 2 hours saved to go up into the mountains past Interlaken (Grindelwald or Wengen are good choices) That will be better than the Golden Pass scenic train.
Or one way via Bern and the other on the Golden Pass.
Suggest you check out this video of The Golden Pass Express.
Thank you for the suggestions!
Goodness NO. I will NOT be ending in Interlaken. I plan to spend three nights in Murren so that I have lots of time to explore both sides of the valley.
This will be mid May (next month).
If you are going to Murren you need to research the train from Geneva to Murren (that will of course involve passing through Interlaken). You do not need to devide up a trip in segments and solve each separately. You can just go on www.sbb.ch, look up Geneva (or Geneva Airport if that happens where you are starting) to Murren, and see times, prices, and buy tickets...
