Train from Bern - Zurich

Hi,

I am trying to book a flight from Zurich to London. Traveling on a Friday morning the early part of June 2017. I will be coming from Bern via the train and have a couple of questions.

A search of the SBB online train scheduling tool shows trains roughly every 30 minutes at approximately the top of the hour and half past. So the 7:02 train which arrives at the airport at 8:16 would give me just over 2 hours to check bags get thru security, etc. I'm thinking of flying easy jet if it makes a difference.

So the questions are:

Is there any reasonable chance that SBB will eliminate the early morning trains?

Do I need to build in any more time.? As I understand it the trains run pretty much on time, but what about the airport? Is 2 hours sufficient?

Thank you.

No way, the 2017 timetable has been posted and is now fixed until December 2017. Even then, they don't cut major services, just adjust them. And 07:02 is not especially early, it is rush hour. There are trains at 04:07, 05:13, 06:02, 06:32, 07:02, 07:32

Two hours is sufficient, don't cut it any shorter. With EasyJet, make sure you have done your check-in online, and printed out your boarding pass, and, if you want hold baggage, buy that online. You can then bypass check-in, possibly via luggage drop-off, and straight to security, passports and the gate.

Also, don't forget tickets are valid on any train. You can buy your ticket the day before, whenever you are passing the station, and when you arrive on the day just get the next train.

If you happen to be flying Swiss you can check your bags and get boarding passes at the train station.
