Tourist Half fare card purchase from the mobile app?

Hello,
I don't see how to purchase the tourist one month half fare card on the mobile app, only on the SBB website. Is this correct?

Our family of four will be there eight days. My son will have his own SBB account since he is staying in Switzerland longer. Can I purchase his half fare card in my SBB account for our family travel portion along with all our tickets during the trip? Then when he stays after our family trip, he can add it in his own account.

Thanks,
Jill

I’m not sure I’ll be much help because I always get the Swiss Travel Pass, but maybe it works the same.

I can purchase passes for myself and others on the website and then print them out so everyone has one to show.

The passes and half fare cards do not need to be in the SBB app. If you need to purchase tickets in the SBB app, you can just indicate the discount. When tickets are checked, you just show the ticket and the half fare card.

I’m pretty sure you cannot transfer the card from one account to another.

Hopefully someone who has purchased multiple half fare cards will chime in.

I do not believe you can purchase them through the app. Only on-line or at a Swiss railway station. You can buy tickets at half fare on the app, but then you need to show a physical Half Fare Card to go with the ticket, showing you are entitled to the Half Fare price.

You cannot purchase the HFC using the APP, only on the website.

When doing so make sure that you create an account first. You only need a visitors account, so select "no customer number", otherwise you'll land on the complicated ID verification page...

A good page with instructions is here: https://community.sbb.ch/blog/35831-swiss-half-fare-card-how-to-buy-and-details

Note that you will need to buy the HFC fior your son under his own account. You can however still buy all the tickets using one phone. Just add all the passengers, and add the fact that they have the 1/2 card. The card is not automatically linked, as there is no check that you have the card during purchase. The check is done on board the train.
