Tirano to Paris via bernina express in 1 day

I want to travel from Venice to Paris via bernina express.
I am planning to get to Tirano a night before and next day morning take bernina express to Chur.
From there, take a train to Zurich and from Zurich onto paris.
Is this doable or if there are any better alternatives?

I understand one option is to staying overnight in Chur or Zurich, but I wanted to save another day for Paris, if possible.

Here are the 2 schedules, I found online..
Option#2 below as fewer connections but time to change trains at Chur is just 6 minutes.
In both the schedules, just 7 minutes for Basel connection.
Is it possible to change a train in that much time ?
Are these trains generally on time ? Missing one would ruin the plan.

In option 1, why are you wasting so much time backtracking from Chur?

When you get off the train at Landquart just stay there until 15:19. There is a train which arrives in Basel SBB an hour earlier than you had planned, calling at Sargans, Zurich and Basel SBB (IC576).

If you go into Chur you will just have to stop again at Landquart, the first (I think) stop on the train you had planned. Much better to have a cup of coffee for 20 minutes and get to Basel an hour earlier.

Can you have dinner in Basel or get an earlier train to Paris?

Thanks Nigel for your response.
See the below schedule , if I take 15:19 from Landquart . Does this look right ?
You mentioned that, I could take the earlier train from Basel but that leaves at 16:39 and IC 576 gets there at 15:19.

How about leaving an hour earlier to allow more flexibility? The view is great from any train. A 6-minute connection is no problem if you only have to connect to other unreserved trains, but missing a reserved TGV can be a big expense. The TGV departing Basel at 18:34 starts from Zurich at 17:27.
