We are taking a rail trip out of Zürich and then returning after a week in Cinque Terre. Any ideas about what to do in Zürich that may not be listed on the tourist book list?
I have to confess I would go to Luzern for a few days instead of Zurich…..
We had a great lunch outside at Sprüngli.

Hang out in the pedestrian zone with a drink or two, people watch and meet some locals.
We walked all over. If you go east from the main rail station you can walk across the inlet/river. Then walk down the river. You’ll see in the distance the big church. We walked around this area (be aware steep) many sweet cobblestone streets. Stop in to any sites (like the church) that might interest you, many shops here too. We then went back down to the river and had a lovely lunch. Walked down to the Opera house. Then crossed back over the river and walked back through old town. We returned to this area on a different day and also wandered. Many restaurants and bars. There are also parks located on the inlet/river. You can also boat on the lake. We found Zurich charming and a very good vibe, not touristy at all, which we liked. Great food, bars.
