Hi,
My husband I and will be traveling from Lake Como to Switzerland in mid September. We have three days before we leave out of Milan. Wondering where are the best places to visit and see, knowing we have to get back to Milan to fly back to NY. Thanks in advance.
Advice may depend on where on that big lake you are located. Como, Bellagio, Varenna, Menaggio?
We will be in Tremezzo
Sorry, should have asked if you had a car. But assuming you don't, and further assuming that by going to Switzerland, you are not just checking a box. I'd add a taste of Alpine splendor by going to Pontersina. Take a ferry to Varenna, then a train to Tirano, then a train over the Bernina Pass to Pontresina. 2 nights there then head back to Milan by taking the train back to Tirano, then the train to MIlan. Depending on your flight time, spend a night in Milan, or if an early flight, one of the hotels at Malpensa.
Thanks so much! Definitely not just checking a box. We are outdoors people and want to do some hiking and enjoy some majestic sites
Any suggestions for trains between Interlaken or Lauterbrennen to Varenna, Italy on June 24? I have tried using TheTrainLine website, but they do not offer a route between those two locations.
Thanks, Debby
