Temperature while riding the Brienz Rothorn

I have booked a ticket on the Brienz Rothorn and was wondering how cold it is while riding on the train. I understand its open window so with the wind coming at you and the high altitude, how much clothing should should I bring. Would a tshirt, sweater and a light uniqlo down jacket do or do i need more? Going early June.

What happens if it rains on the day. Do the windows close so that we don't get soaked or do they cancel the train altogether.

I was also hoping to pack a lunch for a picnic, not sure what will be up in the summit and don't want to get stranded without food. Is there a bakery or coop at Brienz I can pop in to get some food before I board the train. I know there is a coop at interlaken however, the trains from interlaken to brienz is not that frequent so I didn't want to miss my transfer to Brienz.

Thanks

There are multiple grocery stores within a block of the Brienzer Rothornbahn. Brienz is a town. There is also a self-serve restaurant at the top of the summit.

Not sure where you got your info that trains don't go to Brienz very often. They run every 15-30 minutes depending on the time of day.

It's Switzerland, so no matter where you are or what you're doing, bring layers. You're not going to need a winter coat, but what you mentioned should be fine.

The windows don't close and they will continue going as long as it's not lightning. This is why you should only purchase the seat reservation, not the whole ticket, until you know the weather is actually good for that day, because if it's raining you're not going to get much for views. The seat reservation is done separately from actually buying the full ticket and it's not that big of a deal to lose out on the 8chf reservation fee if the weather is poor. But if you've already purchased the full ticket then you'll just have to hope for good weather and bring a rain jacket.

Ok thanks for that. Good to know there is a restaurant up there. I did only buy the seat reservation. Hoping for good weather though, really want to do this train.

Its a bit of hit or miss really, on the day, if its cloudy on the webcam, do I still go up? Weather can change very quickly and could clear (or could get worst too :D)
