Taxis in Wengen

Approximately how much US dollars would it be for a trip from Alpenrose to the train station if the hotel is not able to provide transportation? Thanks!

I took a short taxi ride in Zermatt last month and it was $15, I used a credit card and I guess the driver selected DCC.

Taxis are not metered but just charge a fixed price. Last time for me it was 20,- but maybe they charge me less because I'm a local :-)

But Alpenrose should be able to pick you up. I see their little bus quite often. You will only use that on your arrival/departure day however. At other times when you are not carrying luggage you just walk...

Thanks, I read where the walk to the train station entails going up a steep hill. Not sure how steep steep is. Just want to be prepared in case I'm having knee issues. I may make a couple of trips in a day to the area where the train station is. I'm a bit of a wanderer. LOL!@!

If you have knee issues and want to be coming and going from your hotel multiple times a day you’re not going to love staying at Alpenrose. If it’s refundable I’d get somewhere not down the hill for your situation. Staying within one block below the train station or in a hotel on the main village road would involve less steep walking if you like to wander.

I agree with “wanderweg” as far as reconsidering your lodging location.
We have stayed twice in Wengen; the first, at a hotel near the Alpenrose. Hotel was great, but it felt “isolated” from the town. Once at our hotel I did not just step out and wander the town.

So, on our 2nd stay I chose a hotel closer to town(above the train station). I found myself stepping out early morning or after dinner, etc.
I appreciated the location so much more.
And I had no knee issues.

On our trip last fall, a taxi from the hotel to the train station was about $20. The walk from Alpenrose to the train station is indeed steep. As previously mentioned, you may want to consider changing your hotel if you have knee issues.
