If taking the TGV from Basel to Paris does having the Swiss Travel Pass provide any significant discount given that so little of the route is through Switzerland? Thanks in advance.

Wanderweg's link refers to the Swiss Half-Fare Card, which is a discount card that most Swiss own, but which is generally not worthwhile for tourists unless you are planning a lot of train travel. Basel is very close to the French border and I would be surprised if there was any validity for the Swiss Travel Pass at all. The validity map indicates that the pass on the line towards France is valid only one stop from Basel SBB, to Basel Skt Johann.
Thank you Philip. That confirms what I thought would be the case.
