tagging along on husband's work trip to Romont

This is my first time posting, though I've been a lurker for years and learned so much that has helped me plan previous trips, so thank you all for that!

My husband and I will be traveling to Switzerland in late May, arriving in Geneva on a Friday. For the bulk of the trip (Sun-Sat) we will be based in Romont, where he will be working most of the time while I take the trains to explore various cities from there. We will have a few days at the beginning of our trip and a day or two at the end to explore together. Because our time together is limited, we're trying to avoid traveling too far from the general region of Romont and having to spend time traveling back that could instead be spent sightseeing/exploring. On a previous work trip last November (I was not with him & have not yet been to Switzerland) he visited Zermatt, and we're hoping to come up with another ideal spot to spend our time together before he starts working. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Montreux, Vevey, Lausanne would be great for your bookend stay, in addition to being super convenient for a Geneva arrival/departure. But, given that those would be easy day trips for you while he is working, maybe you would want something else. Maybe play around with the train website to get a sense of train routes (sbb is the train company).
I also scored a trip to Switzerland as part of a spouse business trip, lucky us!

You are also close to Gruyere and Broc. You could do a very nice circuit Romon - Bulle - Gruyeres - Montbovon - Montreux - Vevey - Palezieux - Romont for example.
