Swizz in may - weather ?

Hi
We were travelling to switzerland in May 2018 first 2 weeks . Since its a shoulder season wanted to know what would be the chances that the cable cars / mountain sights etc are closed due to bad weather?
We are looking at visiting
Chamonix
Murren(jungfrau and schillthron)
Zermatt
And some cities like lusanne, bern and lucern

Was thinking of booking tickets and hence need this help.

Thanks and regards
Rose

Rose, you got no replies, probably because its difficult to answer such a broad question for so many places. I have been in Switzerland in May, and its not so much the weather that impacts closures, as it is routine maintenance on transportation infrastructure. Note that all these places don't just have tourists using the facilities, but local residents who live there and use the same transportation, so they dont just close things for lack of tourists. Bottom line, I wouldn't worry about the weather impacting transportation, but yes there will still be some snow on the ground up high and some walking paths and trails may still be closed.

Rose, May is not total "shoulder season", more "early season". March and April are "shoulder" (after ski-ing ends), May has 3 public holidays in it (in 2018: Tue 1st May, Thu 10th May and Mon 21st May), with a lot of people going away for a long weekend.
Some of the cable cars close for maintenance, but they should be open for the 1st May holiday weekend. Towns never close, people live there. And Lausanne, Bern and Luzern are cities, with tourism as a minority industry.

The cable cars and mountain railways rarely close for bad weather (strong wind may close cable cars). The bad weather is usually clouds, which prevent you from seeing anything when you get to the top. That is unpredictable. You need to decide on the day whether you go up or not.

I hope you are talking about air tickets. It is never necessary to book rail tickets fro Switzerland in advance.

The weather in May is generally pretty good from a tourist's perspective, but there is still a chance for modest snow. I've seen days there where the high temps were in the 40s (F) to 80s. Over a two-week period in early May in the mountains you will probably see it all: cold, warm, rain, snow, sun.

I was talking about booking air tickets

I also want to reserve on the golden pass and glacier express but i guess that opens up 3 months ahead only.

I can travel anytime from last week of april to last week of may. Posted to see if there is anything i need to take into consideration.

Thanks all for the replies
