Switzerland Trains...and baby gear

We just booked 7 nights in Wengen in mid July - yay! We fly into Milan, and I think we will stay there one night to shake off the jet lag. My question is - do we book our train tickets from Milan to Interlaken ahead of time, or do you just purchase them at the train station before you get on? Do the trains likely sell out?

I have researched all the train passes, but I am still confused! We will be taking the train from Milan to Interlaken, and then back again a week later. We have 7 days in the Berner Oberland, and we could possibly do a day trip over to Lucerne. I am assuming because our travel is mostly in the BO that a Swiss Pass would be wasted on us? If we buy the Berner Oberland passes, do we also want the Half Fare card - or is it one or the other? Sorry for being so confused by this!

Also, if our air bnb rental does not have a portable baby crib, does anyone know of a way to rent baby items in the area?

Thank you so much for your help!!

If you want ultimate freedom to zip around anywhere in Switzerland at any time then the Swiss Travel Pass is for you. If you want the biggest savings on high mountain private rail lines as well as savings all over Switzerland then choose the Half Fare Card.

You do not need multiple passes for Switzerland.

I'm usually so excited to get off that awful plane I'm pumped and ready to go - I personally wouldn't waste a night in Milan, but maybe it's good for you?

You could buy the Berner Oberland Regionalpass for 350 CHF per adult for the 8 day version. That will cover you from Brig, just inside Switzerland after the Simplon Tunnel, but you must take the hourly Loetschberger train to Spiez to get to Interlaken.

From Milan Malpensa airport, you could get a bus to Stresa on Lago Maggiore and shortcut going into Milan. Then buy tickets from Stresa to Brig, then proceeding from there.

The Regionalpass does get you to Luzern, but no transport thereafter. The 8-day Swiss Travel Pass is only a little more at 376 CHF for an 8-day pass. It also kicks in at Domodossolo on the Italian side of the Simplon Tunnel, you can take the normal train to Spiez through the Loetschberg Base Tunnel, but only gives a 25% discount for the trains above Wengen.
