First time to Europe & not sure how train travel works. We would like to travel via train from Murren/Laut. to Brienz (to visit Ballenberg), train from Brienz to Montreux (boat to visit Chateau de Chillon), then train from Montreux to Geneva. All in the same day. Would a Saver Day Pass cover all of this?
A Saver Day Pass covers all travel for one day in the GA area. That means everything shown as a solid line on this map. From what you describe, yes.

Before you think of getting any passes for Switzerland, list all the travel you are definitely doing and possibly doing, for your whole time in the country. This will determine the best deal.
As for learning more about trains, you can't beat rail guru The Man In Seat 61. Here's his general introduction to European trains: https://www.seat61.com/Europe-train-travel.htm
And here's his Switzerland page: https://www.seat61.com/Swiss-trains.htm
It will take you some time to get through this material, and don't worry about every detail at first, but it will help immensely when you're there.
Pashy I will only add that you are trying to do too much in the same day, you can easily spend a day at Ballenberg, if face it would I think be a waste of time to spend less than half a day there, then you have at least probably nearly three hours traveling to Montreux then you want to go to Chateau de Chillon another place that needs the best part of two hours to see it all then on from Montreux to Geneva. Please think again and spend a night in Montreux or somewhere close to it before going Chillon and then to Geneva the following day. Just look at the train timetables and the boat times to see what I'm talking about.
Thanks so much for the feedback. We have decided to omit Ballenberg & just do a stop to Chateau de Chillon on the way to Geneva.
