Hi All! New here and am wanting some advice. I'm traveling with my 20 year old daughter from the US to Switzerland for 4 days. Then to Rome for 3 nights, Cinque Terre for two nights, Florence for 3 nights and then Venice for two nights. I have a rental car in Switzerland from set up. We are staying in Hasilberg bc I heard that's a good point to sight see from. Have paragliding set up for one of the days. Any info on things to do and on how to get from Zurich to Rome overnight and travel by train to all the cities in Italy? Thank you! Shaleen
In Italy, you have two train companies, Trenitalia and Italotren.
It's a very tight itinerary, so I would be flying from Zurich to Rome.
A quick search reveals an overnight train form Zurich to Rome involves 2 changes and 13+ hrs. Not sure how well rested one would be by arrival in Rome in the AM and ready to 'go do tourist' stuff. Day trains take 7-8 hrs and involve on change.
A flight may be worth consideration
