I will be based in Murren for four days, but I just want to relax and maybe do some light walking. I need to get from Zurich airport to Zurich HB. I will be spending one night in Zurich due to my late arrival. The following day, I will go from Zurich HB to Murren. Four days later from Murren to Milan. I was thinking about purchasing a Swiss Transfer Ticket combi? I know I still need to purchase a ticket from Dormo to Milan. Would the Swiss Transfer ticket suffice?
Demetrius,
Getting from Zürich airport to the main station is very easy by train, it only takes about 10 minutes. If you've booked a hotel near the station, you'll be able to relax in your room very soon after arrival.
Are you aware of the route you'll be taking to reach Mürren? When you buy your tickets, there are two options, and I'd suggest using the "BLM" route.
I'm not sure which Swiss pass or ticket would be most appropriate, as that's always a complicated subject and I'd have to spend some time looking at the options. If you're changing trains at Domodossola, you can purchase the Italian portion of the trip using the www.captaintrain.com website.
Yes, that ticket will work. If you buy it online, it will be pre-validated for a one-month travel window and you fill in the two full-coverage travel dates yourself as you go. If you buy it in the airport train station, don't let the agent fill in the travel date. The Half-Fare Combi offer (adding $75 to the price) can pay off if you're taking a couple of the more expensive lifts and trains around the valley and I'm not sure whether that fits into your definition of relaxing. Keep things simple, if you have a late arrival in Zurich just stay at one of the airport hotels and start fresh from the airport train station the next day. Since it's night you won't miss any scenery and it's a short walk or shuttle bus. For instance, the airport Hilton or the Radisson Blu.
