Switzerland to Como

I will be leaving Grindelwald and traveling to Lake Como, and from there to Genoa. I chose the town of Menaggio as it seemed it would take less travel time to get there. Planning on taking the train to Lugano and i read that there was a bus ( about an hour long trip) from there to Menaggio. Does this itinerary make sense to you? Now I'm thinking it is going to take longer than I anticipated and wondering if I should spend the night in Lugano. Help! I'm getting nervous!

Makes perfect sense. It takes about 5 1/2 hours going through Luzern. Then some time before the next bus to Menaggio. Here is the schedule, but check that it is current. Travel on a weekday because the bus schedule is reduced on weekends. http://www.menaggio.com/ita/e-lakes/Orari_bus.pdf
Going to Genoa, you could take the ferry to Como, then a Trenord train to Milano Centrale then IC train to Genoa, or return to Lugano on the bus from there and take the train connecting to Genoa.

Thanks so much! One more thing- do I catch the bus at the train station or in town?

The bus station for Menaggio is actually about a half mile from the train station at Campo Marzio and Viale Cassarate. There is a city bus that connects them. Inquire at the train station.
