An article in today's NY Times describes how the Swiss are planning to deal with expected substantial loss in glacial volume later this century. Fascinating and beautiful - especially the "new" valley near Gadman!

I would hardly call it an "opportunity", that implies taking advantage of something positive.
It is more like trying to mitigate, but only partially, the adverse affects of a major disaster.
