one of the hotels I was in used the 3 prong but another used the standard 2 prong european.

Tablets and phone chargers will work OK with standard 2-prong (ungrounded) European plug adapters, as long as the adapters are compact.
Anything grounded, such as many laptop chargers, needs a Switzerland-specific adapter: 3 prongs in a flat triangle shape.
Although many hotels have a standard European plug in the room.

Notice the points on the ends? Do NOT get anything that is round at the ends. We bought supposed standard European adaptors for our first trip to Switzerland and were out of luck when they would not fit in the outlets that had the pointed ends.
