Switzerland Mobile service and Wifi

We are doing the Best of Switzerland tour and just found out AT&T does not offer service for mobile call or texting in Switzerland. Was advised to purchase a SIM card in Switzerland. Where is the best place to buy this, and how much do they cost? Also, was told that you must have a Wifi connection to send email. Are there only specific locations where you can access Wifi there, such as in the hotels? TIA

I was surprised to read this, as we both have ATT on our iPhones and used it for calling and texting in Switzerland on our most recent trip there (2018).

So I checked and see Switzerland is on the list of countries where you can used the International Day Pass plan—-$10 per day for each day you actually use it.

Every hotel and apartment where we stayed in Switzerland had good strong wi-fi, for free. So no problem receiving and sending email.

So now I am curious—-where did you get this wrong information?

This is not correct. AT&T has service in Switzerland. Check the AT&T website’s list of covered destinations. Not only is Switzerland covered, but 5G is available there too.

Also an AT&T customer who was in Switzerland last year, and utilized the $10/day international plan.
Amazed at the “connectivity” in Switzerland. Always cellular or WiFi available in places I considered remote.

According to AT&T if you have a Prepaid Mobile Plan the service for Switzerland is not avail. Not even as an add on. The $10 a day Pass service does not apply to prepaid plans.
Prepaid plan mobile customers' only option is to purchase a local sim card. Details, details......
